PROVENCE
They call this the land of sunshine. It is here that the hands of the
clock slow down to that of another era, and purple fields of Lavender
surround stone cottages and tiny medieval villages sit atop the hillside.
Of all the regions in France, Provence remains the only one that enjoys
a full 300 days of bright sunshine. With that, brings kilometers of
olive groves, fruits orchards, wild herbs, fragrant fields of lavender,
and most importantly vineyards.
BRITTANY
A land of two cultures, where the inhabitants are first “Breton”
and then French. A place of beautiful rolling hills, lush vegetation
and the strong influence of the sea. There is much to do on this enormous
peninsula, everything from scuba diving and island hopping to cider
tasting and horseback riding. This part of France is rich in celtic
culture and history. One could spend months exploring all of Brittany’s
citadels and fortified villages, megaliths, calvaries and islands. Whether
you want a month or a few days here, we propose you do it with us, in
the lap of luxury.
BURGUNDY
This is wine country at it’s best as the wine growing culture
that makes this region thrive is centuries old! Start by the gorgeous
city of Auxerre and make your way down through Dijon and eventually
to Beaune and the Cote d’Or (Golden Hillside), all the way to
the rolling hills of Beaujolais. Sample wines in the vineyards, or descend
underground to see the wine tunnels that go on forever in order to store
these precious bottles. Taste cheese made by monks, visit the Hospice
de Beaune, and many of the quaint little villages that dot the region
and are immersed in the surrounding vineyards. Talk with a local viticulteur
about his age-old wine making, bike on one of the quite roads on route
to see 10 th century chateau. Then, at the end of an adventurous day,
sleep in a 12th century Abbaye but first feast as a duc would have at
a 3 star Michelin restaurant. In Burgundy, old France is alive and well
and waiting for you to discover it.
THE LOIRE
The Loire is mostly known for its world famous grand Renaissance castles,
which are so abundant that they nearly overlap as they cover the region.
However, it is also a nature lover’s paradise and is a fantastic
place for all levels of hiking and biking. With it’s Alice in
Wonderland like forests, gentle rolling hills which provide thrilling
views, slow moving rivers, centuries-old vineyards and sunflower fields,
it offers plenty to do outdoors as well. Walk from one Cinderella Chateau
to the next, enjoying the great outdoors on route, before stepping back
into time with the impressive monuments that represent the Age of Enlightenment
in all it’s glory. As there is so much to do and discover in the
Loire, trips here are great for all ages.
PARIS AND THE ILE DE FRANCE
Versailles, the Louvre, Musee d’Orsay, a trip down the seine on
a private boat; you know all of these sites, and perhaps you have even
seen a few, but this is our backyard. Let us show you this beautiful
region as we see it…without the tourist traps!!! The Ile de France
is loaded with hidden gems waiting to be explored. This is a land of
history and beautiful architecture and combines the best of both modern
cityscapes and rolling country landscapes. It is dotted with gorgeous
castles, tranquil courtyards, and charming chateaux, which are nearly
always bypassed by tourists who are either in transit to another region,
or in search of the “big ones.” Avoid the tourists and explore
this incredible region with us…the locals.
CORSICA
What do you get when you have an island in the Mediteranean between
France, Italy and Spain? …Paradise. Imagine
an island that incorporates all of these worlds, but remains fiercely
proud and independent, is covered by immense citadels, towering roman
and dramatic gothic churches, prehistoric sites and magestic villages
with winding cobblestone streets…Now imagine all this immersed
with soft white sand beaches, deep blue Mediteranean coastal seas, sparkling
natural lakes, hot springs and waterfalls, gorgeously rugged terrain,
perfect for hiking…and for sunsets. On top of all this, Corsica
has delightful “produits du terroir,” elegant hotels, quiet
seaside and mountain trails, fantastic scuba diving and intimate swimming
coves.
THE DORDOGNE
One of the most beautiful regions of France, the Dordogne has a little
bit of everything. Lying between the Loire and the Pyrenees, this region
offers dramatic landscapes, with rivers that crisscross, rocky cliffs
of limestone, rolling vineyards and walnut trees. Housing over 1000
castles, the Dordogne is also home to the famous Lascaux caves, a series
of 150 pre-historic sites that occupy drawings depicting the life of
early man. Old villages, pretty landscapes, and imposing castles….it
doesn’t get better than the here.
